Neuropsychological Testing

A neuropsychological assessment typically involves a series of specialized assessment measures which are used to examine a variety of relevant brain functions.

Functions examined in these types of assessment include (but are not limited to):

  • Intelligence

  • Academic Achievement

  • Executive Functioning

  • Attention and Concentration

  • Visual and Verbal Learning and Memory

  • Speech, Language and Comprehension

  • Fine Motor Skills and Dexterity

  • Emotional and Social Functioning

What to Expect

Each neuropsychological assessment is unique to each adult. However, every assessment will start with a comprehensive clinical interview that is typically 60 minutes in length. After the interview the psychologist will select appropriate testing measures. Administration of these tests is done in person and can take anywhere between 4-8 hours. After the tests are done the rest of the work is done behind the scenes through record review and test interpretations. Once all the results are analyzed a report is written to explain the findings in a simple way. The psychologist will then invite you back for a feedback session to explain the results and answer any follow up questions you may have.
